US FDA Seeks Public Comments on Revising Color Additive Regulations to Remove Solvents Methylene Chloride, Trichloroethylene, and Dichloroethane
On April 1, 2026, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) proposed to revise the color additive regulations (Docket No. FDA-2026-C-3071) to remove the permitted use of three solvents—methylene chloride, trichloroethylene, and dichloroethane—in the manufacture of annatto extract, paprika oleoresin, and turmeric oleoresin.
